Hopefully it'll be a bit more clear up in Beijing?

Pete Domenici and Heather Wilson, I hope New Mexico votes you OUT at the next election. You are the epitome of the worst kind of politician. We're all happy that your nefarious deeds are out in front of the whole nation for review.
This man, David C. Iglesias, should be back in his job as US attorney for the District of New Mexico.
VentureBeat on Baidu's clickfraud.
The study, conducted by Peter Lu, of the China IntelliConsulting Corp (copy of pdf here), found that advertisers believe 34 percent of all clicks on Baidu ads are fraudulent, compared to 24 percent on Google. The report has other warning signs for Baidu, including suggestions that more advertisers plan to cancel campaigns with Baidu, compared with Google, and that more advertisers plan to begin campaigns with Google.

While Microsoft is shedding executives (Blake Irving, Chris Payne, David Cole, Martin Taylor in 2006) in the US, Microsoft Japan has recently hired Yasuyuki Higuchi to succeed Darren Huston when he leaves Japan in 2008. You may remember Higuchi from his previous stints at Apple Computer Japan, Compaq Japan/HP Japan, Daiei, and now Microsoft. Stippey is indignant that an ex-Apple exec is now at Microsoft, but I say that is representative of the type of executive this guy is.
Stephanie Quilao, who writes the Back in Skinny Jeans blog, spent 9 1/2 weeks as an Enthusiast Evangelist for Microsoft. She recently left the job and her post on why she left was pretty interesting.
I created my blog business for less than $100, and it costs me about the price of a pair of nice jeans a month to run beyond my time and energy. I cannot do this with the current MS products or services. And I tried. I am making money while helping to evoke change in the beauty industries. I can use CSS and be creative in my blog design, and control what is advertised on my space. You can’t do that in [Microsoft] Live Spaces.
...
As a Pro blogger, the only tool I use that is MS made is my wireless mouse, which is fabulous but, for real, there needs to something meatier than that. And again, I tried real hard to find more MS tools to integrate into my uber blogging, and could find none that were more compelling, more productive, or easier than what I already use, so why change?

In the Valley, the trendsetters are about webware. Software is not bad, it's just costly. What you can do on the web is just utterly interesting. People can also share much easier and faster. Companies must start looking at the web differently. Things are changing, rapidly.
Good luck Stephanie. You will be glad that you followed your heart.
p.s. Not all software is costly. Free and open source software costs nothing for the users :)

Robert Alan Feldman of Morgan Stanley discusses why Japan is hit harder in the recent Asian dip of the markets. Japan's close ties to China are a significant reason, but Feldman discusses other credibility problems for investors in Japan which may delay the return of the markets in Japan.
As global investors try to make sense of the sharp market correction, a key piece of evidence has come from the relative declines of different markets. Japan has been hit worse that other industrial country equity markets. The question is why?
One part of the explanation is that the Japanese economy is tied more closely to China, the immediate source of the current downdraft, than are the other industrial countries. Hence disturbances in China — in particular a clear effort by the Chinese authorities to cool the Chinese economy — leave Japan and Japanese company earnings more exposed than other countries.
However, China is far from the whole story. Indeed, many investors around the world are viewing events in China as a mere trigger to an adjustment that has deeper roots. Of course, global liquidity and incessant harping on the carry trade are global parts of the story. In Japan’s case, however, there are a number of domestic roots as well. It all comes down to credibility.

One writer I always read is Pulitzer-prize winner Seymour Hersh of The New Yorker. If you enjoyed his recent piece on our situation in Iran, The Redirection, you'll enjoy this podcast interview with Hersh by Chris Lydon.
It looks like Mujirushi Ryohin, the fashionable no-brand brand in Japan, is making a serious entry into NYC.
I predict they will do better than UNIQLO, because MUJI has something to offer (the no-brand brand zen thing) that UNIQLO doesn't.

This mix is my business card for the Lazy//Sexy series.
I say this because I’ve tried to cover every genre I typically cover with an emphasis on a building flow. Instrumental, deep house, disco house, and a special closer — this is the one that, if asked to present a piece of work to represent my entire catelogue’s sound, would be it. Or if I pointed someone to this site, I’d say “Give 022 a listen”. That’s how much this mix means to me.
So I really want you to give this a listen. And I’d love to know what your thoughts are.
