Another XULrunner project has launched- this time backed by the founders of Skype:
From a more technological point of view, we deliver TV to you using P2P and the client software itself is based on XULRunner. We use tons of open source software, and a lot of W3C technologies. We’ll target the same main platforms as XULRunner: Windows, Mac and Linux. It is pretty cool to see the Mozilla platform used in this new way, and it is quite an adventure being part of it.
also from the Venice Project blog:
We are in the process of launching a secure P2P streaming technology that allows content owners to bring TV-quality video and ease of use to a TV-sized audience mixed with all the wonders of the Internet. All content on The Venice platform is provided by content owners directly, and it's all protected with the highest standard of encryption and we are working within the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) framework to ensure that it complies with appropriate content protection and ownership regulations.
Welcome to The Venice Project
i heard i webTV project named viviTV global TV networks, by which, P2P streaming technology enable the world wide TV broadcasting with cost hundreds times less than Microsoft Media solutions. The current channels on viviTV.com seems to be hi quality with less buffering during play. I think the breaking technology might bring easy video as youtube wishes.
viviTV is based on TVkoo, p2p engin provider. This innovation enabled the P2P live streaming based on Microsoft Media Service 9.0 DRM system. The content owner will feel safer with viviTV.com web channels now
Hi guys,
p2p tv market is huge and we will see 3 kind of channel-lists next years:
1. official tv broadcasters (venice & co)
2. User generated broadcasters, but controllable by operator (tvu, pplive, sopcast) (legal questions)
3. Anonymous networks, not controllable (user generated content, retransmissions like www.cybertelly.com)
same will happen as in filesharing industry, here it is "Streamsharing" what its all about.
