hmmm.. I think Godin misses his audience a little bit. His big couple of themes are hammering through yet again tho.
Far from "accidental marketing" Google succeeded *because* of its authenticity and excellence far beyond any plan to convey that plaform in the market. It's a marketing-centric take on branding that might just boil down to semantics
It seems like the new wiki-wonders and myspace aren't really worried, even surreptitiously, about going to market with well developed messaging platforms so much as they are going to market with inherently decent technologies. Godin argues they won't succeed without a considered effort and yet they empirically do.
