I am a happy owner of a 1100 GS since 1996. When the the 1150GS came out I thaught it wasn't worth to run immediately to the next bmw dealer to buy it. After riding it I reinforced my opinion. OK...better gearbox and a slightly better power delivery.
Now I can't wait to lay my eyes on a "live" new GS. In the photos looks absolutelly great and the tech spec makes me dream with those extra HP, the thirty something kg less and all the new features like the good looking instrument pannel.

I own a 2001 1150gs and love nearly evcerything about it. Biggest complant, too heavy&high center of gravety.I,m 5ft 11 170 lbs. not real strong and find very slow speed riding a little dicy. Also gap between 5th gear and 6th too big.Don,t use 6th too much riding back roads in north Texas.Looks like new 1200 addresses both problems. Cant wait to see one.

It would be nice to get a broucher to see the new r1200gs, it seems that there are none in australia and makes it hard to see the bike without going down to the local bmw dealer when you need to know something about a bike you would like to own

Had my GS for 3 weeks and 3,000 kilometres.Have to say I was disappointed and didn't think the beast was worth the money. Since then I've run it in and started to use it the way it was intended. Touring, sporting (read fast and safe) and getting away. The just have to think to my self "is there any other bike I could be riding at this moment (while I'm riding and not at a cafe)which would be better?" Have to say the answer is 99% no. It is a 4 in 1 bike. A scooter for commuting, a touring bike (comfortable) a sporting back roads bike (hoses most!) and a licence saving bike (one with can hold any legal limit) The horn does'nt work the alarm is on the blink and it gets 22 - 24 k to the l in an unhurried fashion, down to 16-18 if I' m up it.
Can't wait to see what other owners get up to with modifications
