Paul and I met up last night to see this collaboration movie between famous Japanese animator Matsumoto Leiji and popular French dance music duo Daft Punk. It was basically an hour-long music video set to Daft Punk's "Discovery" album.
We both loved it!
Paul is a crazy Daft Punk fan and while I like their music a lot, the combination of their sound and the Matsumoto images is really entrancing. The animation was done in the old school style, so there wasn't too much of an effort to match mouth movement to the words, and the soundsystem in a nightclub beats the movie theater's sound, but it was great overall. Total eye and ear candy.

Wow, I love Daft Punk toooo! In fact when I heard their album "Discovery", felt a sort of "The Art Of Noise"-like touches on masterly sound sampling....By the way, I have moved my web-diary. Ciao
no lip-sync, but boy were mouvements and editing sticking to the rythm... wouaw! Each song had its perfect place in the dramatic development of the movie, to the point that I felt that maybe the music had been created especially for the movie. ;-)
