Joi sent his emergent democracy paper to Dee Hock, founder of Visa, and got a lengthy and interesting response "about blogging, the Internet, VISA, culture, democracy, power, corporations, leadership" and other ideas.
I really like when Dee talks about the failure of the Internet to "Institutionalize its deinstitutionalization" as that is clearly at the heart of all of the fights going on with IP and laws surrounding copyright.
Dee's metaphor for blogging as a network of ideas in comparison to the network Visa/MC/Amex have created is really...powerful.
